For this LifeExpressions commission, elephants were a large part of the design because this person adored them. Traveling the world was also a major component because they do that for a living so there were several design elements which captured that as well. A stylistic/contemporary world symbol was added in the center of the painting with a jet portraying travels around the world.
Surrounding the world are four separate quadrants representing the person. At the top left are Celtic symbols indicating their heritage, next to that is a fish that depicts scuba adventures and the sun sign they were born under (Pisces). The bottom left of the circle portrays tulips, a symbol of the country they live in and across from that are more Celtic symbols with a round element at the top of them that illustrates a yoga sitting position, which is part of their workout regimen.
The diagonal design elements feature the blades of a windmill. Free-form elephant shapes and hearts defines their love for these beautiful animals. At the bottom are more symbols from around the world (colosseum, castle, Paris) that show places they've traveled to. Aquamarine (their favorite color) is the dominant color with shades of purple, a nice complementary color. My client told me that I truly captured the essence of the person they commissioned the painting for.
This piece was created in archival and acrylic inks, both waterproof. LifeExpressions commissions are painted on an 8"x8" (unless another size is determined, but they are always square) cradled substrate that is archival and acid-free. The finished painting is protected with several coats of satin (low-sheen) acrylic polymer varnish which is resistant to chemicals, water, abrasion and ultraviolet radiation. I also paint the sides of the cradled panel with an acrylic color that compliments the painting. Cradled panels allow you to hang your work with no additional framing. I also include a hanging hook and nail for your convenience.
NOTE: Please do not hang your fine art painting in direct sunlight. The painting is non-repairable if it is accidentally scratched or marred in any way. Lightly dust off occasionally with a cotton cloth and nothing else.
