LifeExpessions are paintings that people commission me to do either for a loved one or special friend in their life or even themselves. These very personal paintings are created just for this person and features what they are passionate about in their life. Capturing the essence of the person and what they love in life is very important to achieve in this type of painting.

For this LifeExpressions commission, the person is very involved in MMA (mixed martial arts). I used the person's image throughout the center with the protective fighting gloves as design elements surrounding them. I portrayed them in a stylized manner and caught their essence in their various fight positions.

At the top left is the person's beloved pet dog and he is surrounded in stylized howling wolves and wolf paw prints. The howling wolf symbolizes a free spirit, strength and a connection to the wild. The wolf paw prints embodies a Native American tradition and portrays being guided along the right path in life.

On the top right side is a very colorful lizard depicting the wonderful culture that this person lives in. Surrounding the lizard are different free-form shapes.

The bottom left and right sides show a very stylized guitar surrounded by musical notes, which describes in images their love for singing and playing guitar. I used amber as the dominant color with shades of red and grey.

This piece was created in archival and acrylic inks, both waterproof. LifeExpressions commissions are painted on an 8"x8" (unless another size is determined, but they are always square) cradled substrate that is archival and acid-free. The finished painting is protected with several coats of satin (low-sheen) acrylic polymer varnish which is resistant to chemicals, water, abrasion and ultraviolet radiation. I also paint the sides of the cradled panel with an acrylic color that compliments the painting. Cradled panels allow you to hang your work with no additional framing. I also include a hanging hook and nail for your convenience.

NOTE: Please do not hang your fine art painting in direct sunlight. The painting is non-repairable if it is accidentally scratched or marred in any way. Lightly dust off occasionally with a cotton cloth and nothing else.
